Once again, with an invitation from the European Innovation Programme HORIZON 2020, the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands represented in Brussels the “Network of Historic Cities against Plastic Waste”, in the framework of the “Bioplastics Europe” project.

The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands has been part of the specific network since the Spring of 2022 and this invitation confirms that Corfu now has a presence and recognition in the European institutions and is not a simple “spectator” of the developments around it, while it has joined and in a number of European financial programmes.

The aim of the project is the reduction and limitation of plastic waste and the utilization and management of bioplastics and biodegradable plastics

The participation of the Municipality is important (as mentioned by the responsible Deputy Mayor) since through it it will claim its participation in the future in financial programs and actions for the reduction of plastic waste.

The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands was represented at all the specific important events in Brussels by the Deputy Mayor of European Programmes, Development and Digital Governance Panagiota Tzanne.
