The 3rd ICC City Lab has been completed its sessions, which took place online from Tuesday 01 June to Thursday 17 June and was attended by more than 400 thematic experts, European officials, and city representatives under the European Commission program (100 Intelligent Cities Challenge – ICC), among them, of course, the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Diapontian Islands.

The first day of the 3rd ICC City Lab was “open” for public attendance and dedicated to the “Green Strategies” and the transition to a more “Green Economy”.

During the 1st day, our Municipality was given the opportunity, through the Assistant Project Manager Mr. Victor Dimoulis, to present the course of its participation in the 100 Intelligent Cities Challenge program from September 2020 until today and the goals that have been put in the main theme “Waste Management and Circular Economy” until the end of the program in 2023.

Also presented as a model solution for tackling marine pollution and the creation of the first Marine Waste Collection Station (SSTHA) and the actions of mapping, cleaning, and decontamination of the seabed of the bay of Garitsa and the port of Alypa Paleokastritsa while the participation of the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Diapontian Islands in the first network of “Blue Municipalities” in Greece for the protection of the marine environment in which it is the largest municipality in terms of the population became known.

It is important to emphasize at this point that, throughout the 3rd ICC City Lab, they were utilized both by the Deputy Mayor for European Programs, Development and Digital Governance, Mr. Panagiota Janne (Project Manager), and by the Scientific Associate, Mr. Victor Dimoulis (Assistant Project Manager) all the networking opportunities presented with other cities participating in the ICC for exchange of good practices and stable cooperation in common areas of interest.
