The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands was present at BEYOND 2022 and at the first in-person meeting of the Greek Municipalities – members of the “100 Intelligent Cities Challenge” programme
The Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands is pleased to announce the presence of our Municipality at the first in-person meeting of the Greek Municipalities – members that participate in the European Programme “100 Intelligent Cities Challenge – ICC” which took place in Thessaloniki on Saturday 01 October 2022.
In this specific meeting, which took place at the “Vellidio Conference Center”, the role played by the ICC in the digital and green transition of Greek cities to date was explored, as well as the potential value that would be created by the existence of a network for the broader coordination of the Greek cities of the ICC.
Our Municipality, as well as the rest of the Greek cities, showed a strong interest in coordinating their actions and creating a better network between them in order to make their transition to the Digital Age faster and more efficient and committed themselves to immediate actions that will bring tangible results in as soon as possible.
The Greek cities participating in the “100 Intelligent Cities Challenge” programme of the European Commission are: 1) Corfu, 2) Trikala, 3) Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, 4) Thessaloniki, 5) Heraklion, 6) Patras, 7) Ioannina, 8) Kavala, 9) Tripoli-Corinth, 10) Chalkida, 11) Paleo Faliro.
At the same time, in the context of this specific meeting, our Municipality also attended the “BEYOND 2022” expo, where the “heart” of digital technologies, “smart cities” and innovation “beat” strongly from September 29 to October 1.
The “BEYOND 2022” expo offered at the premises of “ΔΕΘ – Helexpo” the possibility for Municipalities, research centers, universities, and companies to be able to become interlocutors regarding the imminent digital transformation of local authorities, where our Municipality is financed for this purpose from the Ministry of Digital Governance, with the amount of 1,750,000 Euros.
It also hosted the scientific day of the Panhellenic Association of General Secretaries of Local Government “KLEISTHENIS” for Technocrats, and Local Government Executives, on the subject of “Digital Transformation of Local Government – good practices and functional applications”.
Finally, it is noted that the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands was represented at all of the specific important events in Thessaloniki by the Deputy Mayor of European Programmes, Development, and Digital Governance, as well as the Project Manager of the local team of the ICC – “100 Intelligent Cities Challenge”, Panagiota Tzanne and the Scientific Advisor and Assistant Project Manager of the local ICC team, Victor Dimoulis.
