The first days of 2021 found the representatives of Aegean Rebreath on the island of Corfu for just six hours! A common goal of Aegean Rebreath and the representatives of the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Diapontia Islands was the completion of the consultation that started last May regarding the installation of the first marine waste collection station on the island!

The representatives of Aegean Rebreath stated that they were very happy to meet again with the representatives of the Municipality and the Port of Corfu Organization to discuss the broader framework of cooperation and actions in the region. After the signing of the memorandum of cooperation, they discussed the schedule of interventions and the necessary conditions for the success of the project. According to the representatives of the body “For us, it was very positive that both the Mayor and her associates were determined to adopt innovative practices and solve chronic problems. The day continued with the visit to different parts of the island in order to see together the locations where our joint actions will be implemented. We discussed with fishermen the problems they identify with tackling pollution and saw their willingness to be part of the solution. Shortly afterward, we left for Athens with a common promise. Our return to the island of Corfu will not be long in order to start our joint project immediately!

However, we would like to warmly thank the Mayor Mrs. Hydraiou for her support, the Deputy Mayor Mrs. Janne, and the Scientific Associate Mr. Dimoulis for their many months of effort to reach this result “.
