The Municipality of Central Corfu and the Diapontian Islands is very pleased to announce its inclusion in the “Network of Historic Cities Against Plastic Waste” – (“Network of Historic Cities Against Plastic Waste”) – (HISCAP) which is an important part of the Horizon 2020 project entitled BIO-PLASTICS EUROPE.

The “Network of Historic Cities Against Plastic Waste” – (HISCAP) has as its main vision to provide support to historic cities and municipalities that need real solutions to address the many problems that are created in their daily lives by plastic waste.

To realize this vision, the members of the HISCAP network are committed, together with the BIO-PLASTICS EUROPE project partners, to consider the implementation at the local level of appropriate sustainable solutions that will come from the transfer of knowledge and experience between representatives – city administrations. and the exchange of best practices and know-how with industry, civil society, waste management agencies, and other support organizations.

The members of the network will also seek, on a case-by-case basis, to test, adapt and develop the innovations that will result from the BIO-PLASTICS EUROPE project of the Horizon 2020 program.

Finally, it is noted that this action is part of the participation of the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Diapontian Islands in the program “100 Intelligent Cities” of the European Commission (100 Intelligent Cities Challenge), where the Municipality participates with the main theme “Waste Management and Circular Economy”.
